Über die Veranstaltung
Canna*biz Tissue Culture Workshop
Clean Genetics & Scalable Cloning
Hosted & facilitated by Growbude Growshop in Berlin
In collaboration with Microhemp Lab (Modena, Italy)
Berlin’s cultivation community will have the opportunity to explore one of the most advanced propagation techniques in modern cannabis horticulture: plant tissue culture and micropropagation.
This specialized workshop introduces growers, researchers, and cannabis professionals to the principles and practical applications of micropropagation for maintaining clean, stable, and scalable plant genetics.
Taking place at Growbude’s Growlab in Berlin, the event will bring together local cultivation enthusiasts and international professionals visiting the city during the International Cannabis Business Conference Berlin.
About Microhemp Lab
Microhemp Lab is an Italian biotechnology startup based in Modena specializing in cannabis and hemp tissue culture, micropropagation, and genetic preservation.
The laboratory focuses on producing high-quality, pathogen-free plant material through sterile in-vitro cultivation techniques. Their work includes meristem culture for genetic recovery, micropropagation of elite cultivars, and genetic banking services that allow growers to safeguard valuable plant genetics while maintaining genetic integrity across generations.
By combining plant science, laboratory protocols, and cultivation expertise, Microhemp Lab supports the European cannabis supply chain with clean clone production and scalable propagation systems designed for modern cultivation environments.
Workshop Overview
Modern cannabis cultivation increasingly depends on clean starting material and genetic consistency. Tissue culture allows growers to propagate plants in sterile laboratory conditions, producing disease-free clones while preserving the exact characteristics of elite cultivars.
During this workshop, participants will learn how micropropagation works, why it is becoming an essential tool in professional cannabis production, and how laboratory-grown plantlets are transitioned into cultivation environments.
Topics Covered
Introduction to Micropropagation
Understanding in-vitro culture and how it differs from traditional cloning methods.
Why Clean Genetics Matter
The risks posed by pathogens such as Hop Latent Viroid (HLVd) and the importance of starting from tested plant material.
The Micropropagation Process
Overview of the key stages of tissue culture:
Culture induction
Multiplication
Rooting
Acclimatization
Micropropagation vs Traditional Mother Plants
Advantages and limitations of both propagation approaches.
Common Cloning Challenges
Contamination, plant fatigue, genetic drift, and disease transmission in cultivation systems.
From Lab to Grow Room
How sterile microplants are transitioned from laboratory conditions to productive cultivation environments.
